Prof Bouhaouala-Zahar is a biochemist and biotechnology expert specialising in medical and health sciences. She is a Professor of Biochemistry at the Medical School of Tunis and a Researcher at the Pasteur Institute of Tunis, where she leads the NanoBioMedika research team within the Laboratory for Biomolecules, Venoms, and Theranostic Applications (LBVAT). Her research focuses on toxin and antibody engineering, immunotherapy, and molecular biology of antibodies.
She plays a key role in doctoral training, serving on committees in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Computational Biology at the University of Tunis El Manar. With extensive experience in teaching, assessment, and scientific project management, she has led research initiatives in nano/biotechnology and pharmacologically active biomolecules with industrial applications.
Prof Bouhaouala-Zahar is also skilled in intellectual property valuation and privacy search management, holding certifications from WIPO, Korea IIPTI, and UC Davis academies
