Prof Dorothy Okello

Prof Okello is Dean of School of Engineering at Makerere University (Uganda) and Director of Innovation at Resilient Africa Network (RAN), a partnership of 18 Sub-Saharan universities seeking to identify, develop and scale innovative solutions (focus on entrepreneurship). She has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University, an MSc in Electrical Engineering (Fulbright Scholar) from Kansas University, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from McGill University (Canada). She is known for founding the Women of Uganda Network and getting more women and rural communities engaged in the information society. Okello is Africa's first-ever Digital Woman of the Year (2012), recognising her work on empowering women through Science and Technology.
